Please tell Ines that her story is inspiring.  Here’s someone who had a dream to do something that people may have thought was trivial.  She had a passion to do something that many would perceive as ridiculous and it would have been easy to drop the idea, which is what most people would do.  But because of her passion, her persistence, and her hard work, people all over the world participated in something that should not have caught on.  She executed the impossible.  Next year all of us who did this will no doubt show up again with more recruits in tow.  All this because of a cockamamie idea from some girl in Toronto.  Amazing.

As for me, I loved what we did and will be spending the next year trying to memorize the dance so that I can be more confident with my moves.  I’ve always wanted to learn the Thriller dance and I am so proud that I went out and did this, which is so outside of my nature. 

Also I mean in my situation, being an evacuee and all, it was just fun which I totally needed. I needed something that wasn’t serious, that wasn’t hard core scary, and Thrill the World was perfect for that.

Please accept my sincere gratitude for your incredible hard work and over-the-top enthusiasm; I loved the countdown, we were lying on the floor getting ready to writhe, and we counted down with you!

… We want to do it again next year.  Momentum is in the air for a really big record attempt.  I know many, many dancers who would have done this had we only known about it.  Let’s set a new date and DO IT AGAIN!!!

Hi Tom, please send my thanks and congratulations to Ines for making her dream a reality. She worked long and hard breaking the dance down into digestible chunks, getting the word out around the world, enlisting sites for Zombies to congregate, and making those awesome instructional videos available on youtube. I think she’s incredible. Many thanks to her and her team for giving us this chance to come together in such a spirit (pardon the pun) of fun and camaraderie. My daughter and I participated together, we both bought Thrill the World tank tops, and I know we’ll be enjoying the memories for years and years.

I was far too old to dance Thriller, but because of Ines and her teaching modules, I got to get down with Thrill the World, which I learned super, super fast over the internet a few days prior to the event.  What a great gift she gave to all of us!  Ines, you are brilliant.  You brought joy and outrageous fun to a lot of strangers, who got to join together and flesh out your idea!  It was a happening!
My sincere gratitude for your fine teaching and all your efforts, I loved your countdown spirit, and to Atomic Ballroom’s hospitality.  I will join another attempt next year, I will volunteer to help, I will bring others to the event, it was way too much fun not to recreate.

When do we do it again?

Ines I want to thank you for including me in a life changing experience.  You and your unselfish shared dream have forever touched my heart I am a hard worker and always give everything I do my all...but this...this...drove me harder than anything I have ever done in my almost 48 years of life.  I was almost obsessed with the idea of doing this.  I have a son in the marines that is not due to go to war yet, but I have 2 young men that stayed with me and my family, friends of my sons, that are due to go to Iraq in about 2 weeks. I call them my adopted sons and they consider me a mother figure.  I, like all others, hate the violence that goes on in our world. and you ...sweet little you, showed me what peace was all about tonight, You gave me more hope and inspiration than I have ever had before.  For this, I thank you with every bit of my heart.  You did it!!!  If I were to leave this world tomorrow (which I hope I don’t, but feel like I might...hahahaha!), I would go a completely happy person...I

really didn’t think I was going to pull this off....I didn’t get a lot...but we got a lot of attention...and next year.... it’s going to be bigger and better!  Okay..I’ve been sappy enuf...I have an appointment with a coma in about 10 minutes...will send what I have soon!  Thank you again for your support and enthusiasm!!

One more thing, I was the event leader that told you I couldn’t find anyone to teach the dance and I ended up learning it from the video and teaching it to my group myself. You need to know you have really inspired me!! I had almost everyone in my group say that they were really impressed with my ability to teach them the dance. They said they could not have learned it with out me teaching it to them. Being a teacher who pretends I’m performing every time I teach, I’m sure helped. But I told them I just did it exactly the way you said to do it. I have always loved to dance but I have never taken any dance lessons before. One of the women in my group that had been practicing with us regularly (who ended up having to withdraw on Thursday due to a family issue) had taken many years of dance and she believes I have a true gift with dance! I thank you for bringing this out in me!! I’m 43 and I’m now taking my first dance class, it’s a hip-hop class with Take 5 Dance Academy (the studio I hope to get involved next year). My bestfriend is also inspired, this dance is the first full dance she has ever learned. She has never even done the Electric-Slide!
